What is direct trade coffee? |

Direct trade coffee is bought straight from the grower, cutting out the traditional middlemen (buyers, sellers, brokers) as well as organizations that control certifications (Fair Trade, Bird Friendly). It’s much better and the future of coffee because it’s mutually beneficial to the grower and the consumer. The grower is paid a fair price (as in fair trade) but there are no middlemen to add their cut. |

Guata Java is a purveyor of specialty coffee directly sourced from the Solares family finca (farm) in Cobán, Guatemala. The farm has been in their family for 3 generations. The coffee is SHB (Strictly Hard Bean), the highest grade of coffee and 100% Arabica. The coffee is shade grown at about 4500 ft., selected and hand picked; dried naturally in the sun and roasted to order in the same harvest year (not stored in warehouses, possibly for years). |
